THE ART OF MOLD
FINISHING
Polishing is more of an art than a science, and the only way to become an
accomplished polisher is to learn the trade from another polisher. When a mold is nearing
completion, and a polisher is faced with several hundred hours of polishing with only a
few days to complete it, it's time to look for immediate help. With our man power we can
usually assign several polishers to a single job to help complete it on time. It is not
unusual for five of our polishers to be on the same job, thereby accomplishing a week's
work in a single day. The advantage to having experienced polishers on our staff offers a
great deal of flexibility in helping a customer solve a delivery problem. However, it
took quite a long time to train such a large number or polishers, because they must be
qualified for any type of job that our customer sends in. Over 20 years, we have polished
a large variety of molds, of all sizes and shapes, from very small to huge molds, in many
different materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, all types of mold steels, beryllium
copper, and countless other alloys. We have polished molds with large numbers of cavities
for every conceivable plastic part you can imagine. Due to this broad variety of work, our
polishers have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that the average polisher could
never attain. Because of this, shops from all over the country send in their molds to be
polished, with confidence that the job will be done correctly, to SPI specifications. |
